Hypnotherapy – Access All Areas – via the Unconscious Mind

Hypnotherapy is simply the therapeutic use of hypnosis as a way of accessing the unconscious to resolve a very wide range of issues ranging from irrational fears and phobias to anxiety and depression; from emotional trauma to weight management; from challenges with relationships or money to giving up smoking. Or it can be used to harness the potential of the unconscious to provide motivation and positive suggestions to overcome stressful situations: exam nerves, driving test blues, yips on the golf course, giving presentations to large audiences ….

Have you ever been mesmerized by flames in a log fire? Or been lost in a beautiful piece of music? Have you been in a car on a rainy journey as the wipers slip-slapped against the windscreen? Then you have slid into “an altered state of consciousness” – precisely the “trance state” that is induced in a session of hypnotherapy.

The mind is like an iceberg

The mind is like an iceberg, with the 10% that shows above the surface of the ocean being the conscious mind, controlling our day-to-day activities and rational, cognitive functions. The 90% of the iceberg sitting quietly below the ocean equates to the unconscious mind. This is the control centre, the computer hard drive, and by by-passing the conscious mind, the hypnotherapist can access the unconscious mind. Not only does it monitor all the physical and biochemical processes that keep us alive, such as breathing and temperature control, it also influences our overall health and wellbeing. It is in the unconscious mind that all memories and traumas, feelings and emotions are stored, and it is here that the therapist works to find the real underlying emotional root cause of an issue.

Weight Loss: 2 Therapists, 2 Approaches

Written by Caroline Burton. Posted in Blog

One of the (many!) lovely things about Vinings Natural Health Centre is the range of treatments and therapies you can enjoy under one roof.

Often, there is more than one approach to a particular condition or issue, and we are holding a series of informal talks over the next few months to highlight this aspect of our work. In each case, two of our practitioners will talk about their approach to the same issue.

Our first talk is on Wednesday 15th March, 10am – 11.30am, at Vinings, and the topic is Weight Loss.
Nutritional Therapist Darshika Bower (left) will show you how you can kickstart your health, energy and weight loss through eating foods that balance your blood sugar.
Hypnotherapist and Past Life Regression Therapist Judy Sharp (right) will outline a more alternative approach, including Hypnotic Gastric Banding.

Places for the talk are limited, so if you would like to come along, please contact Darshika or Judy to book your place – there’s no charge, we’d just like to know how many (healthy) refreshments to provide!

Are you a typical client for hypnotherapy?

Written by Caroline Burton. Posted in Blog

“Who is a typical client for hypnotherapy? What would a client come to see me for?” asks Vinings’ Hypnotherapist and Past Life Regression Therapist, Judy Sharp.

I have been looking through my client files recently, analysing who it is who has come to see me, and why.

The age range is from mid-20s to late 60s, with a couple of clients in their 70s. Proportion about 1/3 men to 2/3 women. Issues range far and wide, from various fears and phobias to giving up smoking; from weight problems to pain control. But actually, underlying many of these “presenting problems” as we call them, were emotional and relationship issues.

Typically a woman will reach that point in her life when the youngest child is just off to university, there could well be a crisis of some kind in the relationship with her husband, perhaps issues from her childhood have been triggered …. any one of these on its own would be enough to pile on weight, but two or more and it is almost certain that there will be comfort eating and it will be tough to get rid of the excess weight. I don’t recommend more hours in the gym or fewer lettuce leaves for lunch; rather I help the client to trace back the real root cause of the issue, and we resolve it at source, be that childhood in this life or way back in another lifetime.

Or it may be that a client will say something like, “I feel something’s come over me” or “I’m not myself” or “I want my old self back:” Have you found yourself saying that? That indicates to me that you could well have picked up a spirit “Passenger” along the way. Nothing dramatic, it can be sorted out very easily – and voilá, you have your old self back!

Fear of success; addictive behaviours; nagging anxiety; sleep walking or activity in a sleep state; lack of confidence: do any of those ring a bell with you? If so – you are a typical client for hypnotherapy, and I would love to hear from you!

You can call me on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512.
